Maintenance Practices & Process Improvement

In our experience, the job of maintenance is to keep equipment running in the functional condition necessary for meeting or exceeding operating requirements.  This means:

  • Reducing unplanned downtime;

  • Constructing planned downtime so that the work is done properly within the time allocated, concluding with the equipment ready to run;

  • Utilizing predictive and non-destructive testing and monitoring to provide crucial intelligence on equipment status;

  • Managing parts costs by replacing only those things that are defective;

  • Allocating manpower so that overtime costs are managed;

  • Implementing Permanent Corrective Action (PCA) whenever possible.

Maintenance is a complex process that can be methodically optimized to increase its capability and reduce its waste--of all kinds.  We provide consulting services to help improve your maintenance capability and performance.

Similarly, most operational processes--including administrative processes--can be improved by increasing the process capability and reducing operational waste.  We also provide consulting services in this area.
